What the sources say about sterilizer maintenance and the records around it.
- Routine maintenance for sterilization equipment is performed according to the manufacturer's instructions, and it is documented by written maintenance records. (CDC, Infection Prevention Checklist for Dental Settings)
- New York's infection-control rules name the same duty: maintain the equipment and devices used for sterilization according to the manufacturer's instructions. (New York Rules of the Board of Regents, 8 NYCRR 29.2)
- A quality-control program for sterilized items includes a sterilizer maintenance contract with records of service. (CDC, 2008 guideline for disinfection and sterilization in health care facilities)
- This log keeps one sheet per sterilizer: each visit gets its date, whether it was preventive work, a service call or a repair, and who did it, plus the next due date from the manufacturer’s maintenance interval.
One sheet per sterilizer.
Fill it in on screen and print it, or print it blank and write on it. Keep the finished sheet with the unit's other records.
